It’s probably not going to surprise anyone that many surveys are reporting a shift in priorities now when it comes to work.

Employees are now ranking job flexibility and work-life balance higher than pay and remuneration.

This possibly makes contracting a more appealing option for employees as it generally provides that flexibility while maintaining a higher pay rate than what you would expect from a permanent position.

  1. Contract roles are used by employers who don’t want to commit to long term employees or have a particular one off task to perform. It’s also a simple way to circumvent employment laws regarding termination of employees – just don’t renew their contract.
